Monthly Drone Construction Shoot: Public Storage Building

Overview

The customer contacted ImageWerkx seeking a local, certified drone pilot/photographer/videographer to provide documentary imagery for their public storage facility construction project.  The estimated 14-month project would require monthly shoots showing the progress of the construction.

The Challenge

The shoot, which is pretty routine has some challenges.  The first of which is the proximity of a local airport that needs to be considered avoiding interference with aircraft taking off or landing.  In addition,  the property is surrounded on two sides with hi-tension and standard power lines as well as a cell tower.   These need to be carefully navigated to avoid damage to the property and the drone while still getting quality imagery.

The ImageWerkx Approach

Keys to the success of the project are:

  • Coordination of the drone flight events  - making sure that the flight OK with on-site project management staff and the local, private airport three miles away. 

  • Creation of consistent imagery -  this requires careful and considered planning to include time-of-day, weather, and site so that the images can be edited properly and consistently and in a timely fashion.

Throughout the project, all parties were kept in the loop coordinating the shoot event and overflights.  At the time of this writing, each shoot event has gone off without a hitch and all deliverables have been delivered on time. 

Deliverables

  • Edited, high-resolution aerial photos including overview and 5-6 perimeter views; construction activity when practicable.  Provided edited and enhanced versions with text detail and compass rose.

  • Orbital video (edited and made “cinematic” with effects and music)

Timeline

Monthly starting in May 2025;  two-day turnaround. Project set to continue through July 2026.

Result

The client continues to receive high quality imagery for project management and investor relations, and marketing.
